Argylle Trailer

“I want all assets on them now. I need her to write the next chapter.” Universal has unveiled the first full official trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s next spy thriller comedy called Argylle, which is an Apple Original Films presentation, in association with MARV. It’s landing in theaters worldwide starting in February next year – an early look (four months ahead) to start building up some buzz. From the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn (of the Kingsman movies, Kick-Ass) comes Argylle, a razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller. The world’s greatest spy, called “Argylle” (not “argyle” like the fabric pattern), gets caught up in a globe-trotting adventure. Bryce Dallas Howard stars as Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, who gets mixed up with a real spy organization. This really does look like The Lost City but with Rockwell and the kitty instead. The legit cast features Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, Sofia Boutella, with Ariana DeBose, Catherine O’Hara & Samuel L. Jackson. This looks goofy & fun, I’ll admit, though it’s obvious her cute cat is the other agent.

Here’s the main official trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle, direct from Universal’s YouTube:

You can rewatch the quick teaser for Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle right here for the first look again.

“The greater the spy, the bigger the lie.” Bryce Dallas Howard is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. When the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur. Argylle is directed by English filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, of the first Kingsman: The Secret Service movie and its sequel The Golden Circle, as well as the films Layer Cake, Stardust, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, and The King’s Man previously. The screenplay is written by Jason Fuchs (I Still See You). Produced by Matthew Vaughn, Adam Bohling, Jason Fuchs, and David Reid. Universal will debut Vaughn’s Argylle in theaters nationwide starting on February 2nd, 2024 early next year, before it’s available for streaming on Apple TV+. First impression? Look good?
